"So I commend the enjoyment of life, because nothing is better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany him in his work all the days of the life God has given him under the sun." Ecclesiastes 8:15

The Thomas Twins

Summer Joy and Weston Michael

This past weekend we made a quick trip down to Fort Smith, Arkansas.  My sister and brother-in-law have made it their temporary home, while their sweet babies Summer and Weston, spend some time growing in the NICU.

I was so excited to finally meet my newest niece and nephew, and they are the sweetest things.  Summer is the feisty one, tends to be more awake, and fusses at you when you mess with her.  She watched me as I held her and talked to her for the first time.  Weston is more relaxed, and likes his sleep.  When I held him, he just snuggled in and went right back to sleep.

It was so nice to spend time with Kristen and Philip, catching up, eating good food, and swimming in the pool. A great big thank-you to my husband for driving us down there!

Lyle was too small to meet his cousins, but he had a fun trip anyway!

18 Weeks

How Many Weeks: 18

Size of Baby: Sweet Potato

Weight Gain: Up two pounds

Gender: We were supposed to find out on Monday, but they moved my appointment to Friday. Don't they know four extra days is killer to wait!

Movement: It seems like the baby is moving a little more all the time. I feel it randomly at work now during the day, and definitely more when I sit down at the end of the day.

Sleep: Not too bad. Lots of rolling over trying to get comfortable.

Symptoms:  Round ligament pain apparently. I don't remember feeling that with Lyle so that's something new. Some lower back pain.

Maternity Clothes: Yes. I had to retire a bunch of my scrubs without drawstrings this week. I'm on the search for a cover-up to wear with my swimsuit at the beach next week.

Cravings:  Still craving anything cold to drink. We got some plums this week and they were so good!

Best Moment This Week:  I got to hold my sweet niece and nephew for the first time today and they are so precious!

Looking Forward To:  Our sonogram is Friday morning, then we leave in the afternoon for a week at the beach in South Carolina with my family! I'm so ready for lots of time to catch up and enjoy the beach life!

Fourth of July Fun

We had a great weekend, full of fun celebrating the 4th of July.  How wonderful that it finally fell on a Friday and we could have a long weekend instead of worrying about getting up the next morning for work!  We were ready for some fun after a week of taking care of a sicky at our house.

On Friday, my sister and her family came down to Harper to party with us!  We went out to Zach's parents and let the kids run wild!

They had a blast playing in the kiddie pool, digging in the dirt, and playing tag.

We took a ride in the gator to see the goats, and over to the neighbor's house to see their cows and puppies.

Lyle must be the only one who thinks my jokes are funny. lol

After all our fun in the sun, we grilled hot dogs, brought out all the other necessary BBQ food including jalapeno popper dip (recipe coming soon!), and put on our own firework show.

The rest of our weekend was filled with more splashing, more food, and more naps!  I can't say much got accomplished at our house, but the trade off was worth it!

17 Weeks

Sorry no picture this week...Zach has been out helping in the fields and Lyle has not mastered his picture taking skills!

How Far Along: 17 Weeks

Size of Baby: Turnip

Weight gain: Forgot to weigh this week.  Probably will be up a few pounds after all this 4th of July food!

Gender: A little over a week until we find out!  People ask if I feel like it is one or the other.  We were convinced Lyle was a girl before our ultrasound, so I don't trust my gut anymore!  I'm not making any guesses this time around!

Movement: At night before going to bed, and sometimes during the day if I'm sitting still.  I can't wait until Zach can feel it too!

Sleep: Lyle was sick this week with strep throat, so he is to blame for sleepless nights, not this little babe!

Symptoms:  I would say we are finally to that second trimester relieve.  Some achiness, but nothing too bad!

Maternity Clothes: Yes.  Very thankful for maternity tank tops!

Cravings:  I made some decaf sweet tea this week, and took a big glass of it to work each afternoon.  I have been craving both salty and sweet things!

Best Moment This Week:  This week was a little crazy since Lyle was sick.  I spent a couple days at home with him (one thing about sick kiddos…lots of cuddles!)  My sister and her family came down to Harper to celebrate the 4th of July and we had a blast letting the kids splash in the kiddy pool, taking gator rides to see the animals, shooting off fireworks, and of course had lots of great snacks!

Looking Forward To:  Honestly I am just loving summer.  Being outside when we can, getting ready for vacation in a couple weeks, and spending time with family and friends.
