"So I commend the enjoyment of life, because nothing is better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany him in his work all the days of the life God has given him under the sun." Ecclesiastes 8:15

Life Lately

Whew.  I feel like October took us like a storm!  It's been a pretty big month for us, so I thought I'd share a little about what we've been up to.  (After writing this it apparently was a big month for Lyle, and a stressful one as parents!) And now it is the middle of November.  Woah.

Lyle got to go his first "friend birthday party."  Oh boy was he pumped.  His 3rd cousin is in his preschool class, and they have become great little friends.  He always calls her, "my cousin Willa."  He helped pick out her birthday present at the store (kinetic sand...it was a hit!) and was beyond devastated when we showed up a day early for the party and had to go home.  Whoops!  They had a blast eating cupcakes, chasing each other around the shed, and playing with presents.

I had never been "geo-caching" before, but Grammy found a spot close to their house, so we took the gator down for a ride one afternoon.  Lyle thought it was pretty fun to go on a treasure hunt!

Next up on the list was getting some dental work done for Lyle.  He had some pretty awful cavities, and we all decided that the best plan would be to sedate him and get it all done at once.  He was a rockstar (and the staff was great, which helped a ton), but I was so nervous for him!  I took my bible and sat in the waiting room with Zach, reading and writing down verses until he was done.  We were able to be back with him as he fell asleep and as he woke up.  They ended up putting a cap on one tooth, and pulling another-putting a bracket in it's place to hold the space until his big teeth come in.  He did fairly well waking up from the anesthesia.  Once we were in the car he would go back and forth between crying for me and being silly.  We told him he could get a milkshake, and he said he wanted banana.  Freddy's for the win!  He sucked that thing down and even ate some french fries on the way home!  He was a little bit fussy for a couple days afterwards, but did great overall.  Here's to hoping we never have to do that again!

We had our awesome girl's/kid's weekend and Lyle had a blast playing with his cousins.

Lyle got to go on his first field trip with the preschool to the pumpkin patch and he had so much fun!  He got to ride with one of his best friends (so sad I had a work conference that day) and had a blast!

The next weekend was our church's annual Trunk-or-Treat Fall Festival.  If you've never heard of that before, people decorate their car trunks in a theme, kids dress up in their costumes, and go trick-or-treating at each trunk.  We also have other games (cupcake walk, pumpkin launching and smashing, broom races, bean bag toss) and I helped with a little photo booth.

Little Miss Aria got to be a model in a fashion show for a local boutique.  She was so cute in her outfits and got super excited when she saw me sitting on the front row!

One night Lyle needed to get his wiggles out (but it gets dark sooooo early!)  We went on a night walk and took our flashlights.  He thought it was so cool!

Poor Lyle has been through the ringer this month, as he had to go to the allergy doctor.  Since he turned one he's had trouble with wheezing, pneumonia, and swollen tonsils.  Our doctor was suspicious that it was allergy based, and wanted us to start there.  They did the pricks on his back, and although he fussed a bit, he did great!  We were able to determine a few of his triggers, and I felt like the doctor gave us a good direction to go.  They tried to draw blood, but couldn't get any....that was the worst part!  We let Lyle pick out a toy at the store after that trauma (let's be honest, Zach and I picked out something ourselves too.  It was rough, guys!)
From that allergy appointment we were referred to an ENT as his tonsils and adenoids were enlarged on the X-RAY.  So Lyle is scheduled for surgery to have those removed in December.   I know.  Poor guy.  But hopefully this will result in a lot less being sick for the poor guy!

This little girl is SO CLOSE to walking!

So now we are in birthday party and holiday planning mode.  Lyle keeps asking, "It's almost Christmastime, right?" and he cannot wait to put up our decorations!  Excited for this Thanksgiving and Christmas season with my sweet family.  And praying for a few less doctor appointments!!!!
