"So I commend the enjoyment of life, because nothing is better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany him in his work all the days of the life God has given him under the sun." Ecclesiastes 8:15

What's Up Wednesday 9.30.15

September is over.  It felt like such a weird month to me.  In my mind, September was the beginning of fall...but I seem to have forgotten that I live in Kansas.  With the exception of a few days, September was hot.  I kept trying to wear a scarf and jeans, and dying of heat stroke by lunch!  Needless to say, I am ready for October, and praying we still get a fall instead of jumping right into winter!

What we're eating this week
We have several evening meetings this week, so quick and easy is the plan!
Beirocks from the freezer
French Bread Pizza
Spaghetti

What I'm reminiscing about
Halloween's past with the little man.

What I'm loving
I love this new bracelet I got!  It is from this cute Etsy shop (which is only open a few times a year).  You pick your leather, charm, and what you want stamped.  I chose "Better Together."  We had that song by Jack Johnson played at our wedding as we walked out together as a married couple.  :)

What we've been up to
There's always something exciting going on at the Bauer household!  Lyle started preschool, I was able to attend a Beth Moore conference (amazing!), we celebrated birthdays, fought allergies, spent time with family, went to a wedding, took Lyle to the dentist, Aria made a trip to the ER, and we started giving flu shots at work.

What I'm dreading
Lyle has to have some dental work done this month.  They are going to use anesthesia and get it all done at once.  And while I'm glad they can fix him all up and get him done in one shot, anesthesia makes me a tad nervous in kiddos.  I am starting to pray now.

What I'm working on
Right now I am in planning mode.  Gathering last minute details for a baby shower this weekend.  And helping to plan outreach events for our church including Trunk or Treat and the Angel Tree Christmas project.

What I'm excited about
This gal.  She's too cute!

What I'm watching
You guys.  It is slightly ridiculous how many shows are recording on our DVR right now.  Our favorites are all starting again incuding: Castle, Bones, The Voice, Mindy Project, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, Grey's Anatomy, and the list goes on...and on.  And it's awesome. :)

What I'm reading
Some random book...I often read my Kindle during my lunch hour, and I hate paying a lot of money for books.  My solution is to go to the Top 100 Free list on Amazon and pick a few that sound good.

What I'm listening to
"Your Favorite Coffeehouse" station on Spotify.  It's good background music at work.

What I'm wearing
Check out my darling new shoes!  I love them!

What I'm doing this weekend
We will have family in town this weekend, and helping with a baby shower.

What I'm looking forward to next month
My 10-year high school reunion is this month, along with the Trunk or Treat festival at church, and Halloween!  Looks like I need to get started on a few costumes!

What else is new?
We had a successful start to preschool this month!

What's your favorite Halloween tradition?
Trick or Treating, of course!

Weekend Recap: In Pictures Edition

I'm going to let my pictures do the talking for our weekend.  Just know it was filled with wonderful baby snuggles, walks outside, leaf eating, puppy playing, four-wheeler rides, and giggles.  Lots and lots of giggles.  Enjoy!

Happy Monday friends!  We have a busy week planned, but my goal is to focus on the fun and blessings in it all, rather than getting wrapped up in my to-do list.  Here's to great week!

Weekend Recap: Wedding Edition

Well it's Monday, and we are back at it again.  I'm pretty sure this is how we all felt this morning....

We enjoyed some Friday night pizza to get our weekend started.  On Saturday morning the kids and I had a little play date with Annie and her kids.  It was fun to just spend time playing and catching up.  I forget how good that is for me as a Mama too.

We had a wedding to go to for one of Zach's cousins, so we headed home for lunch, naps, and to get ready.  Looking at the picture below I think that Lyle is going to pass me up pretty quick and be tall like his dad!

It was a gorgeous afternoon, and we had fun catching up with lots of family during the reception.

Aria impressed everyone with her waving and Cheerio eating skills.  Not so much her posing for picture taking skills.

Grammy looks cute at least!

Lyle ate bread and cupcakes for supper.  Then he conned Grammy into getting him a Happy Meal at about 9 o'clock that night!

Lyle could NOT WAIT to get out on that dance floor.  We practically had to hold him back while they got all the first dances done.  Then he was out there shakin it!!!  We were dying laughing at him the whole night.

He wanted to do the "dollar dance" with the bride, but did not want to slow dance when it was his turn.  He wanted down so they could boogie!

Dancing with cousin Chase.  Hilarious.

Letting Aria eat Cheerio's off the floor during church.  #secondchild

Sunday afternoon was beautiful, so after getting a little paperwork done for the preschool, we headed to the park to play.  Aria was loving the swings!

That giggle is enough to make your Monday better, isn't it???

Lyle: First Day of Preschool

Lyle had his first day of preschool today.  He was pretty excited and not at all nervous.  The only thing he had said was that he would miss up while he was at school.  I tell you, this kid can melt your heart!

I woke him up a little bit early, so we would have time to take pictures and eat breakfast.  I thought reminding him that it was a school day would get him up faster, but he just rolled over and said, "But, Mom.  I'm so sleeeeepppyy."  Me too bud, me too.  I had all kinds of nice shirt options laid out, but he insisted on wearing Ninja Turtles.

Since the preschool is across the street from Zach's work, and class doesn't start until 8:30, Lyle gets to go to work with his dad for a few minutes in the morning, then they walk over.  I think he was pretty pumped about that too!

Zach said he ran off to play with friends when he got there.  I think it was probably best that Zach was there to drop him off and not me.  I'm sure there would have been tears in the car on the way out.  Instead I was able to just be excited for him.

His grandma picked him up from school, and the kids were out on the playground.  Apparently he and his friend were playing bad guys and chasing the girls.  Help me, he is only three and chasing girls.  He also said not to worry that they were nice bad guys and it was just pretend.

Grammy brought him down to see me at work after class, and we went to McDonald's for lunch so I could hear about his day.  They painted with marshmallows, played in the kitchen, and he got to play in the tent.  I think he had a great day.  His favorite part of the day was the other kids and he said he didn't learn anything.  Ha!  Priorities right???

I can't wait to see how he grows this year!

Aria Grace: Nine Months

We've got nine months down in the books.  It is amazing how much you have changed in the last couple of months!  My little baby is fading, but I love this sweet girl who is growing!  Now I need to go home and sneak in some snuggles while I still can!

Eating- Your newest love this month is Cheerios.  The floors at our house should be proof....those little landmines are everywhere!  You still love most foods (you protested all things green for a couple weeks), and are still nursing great.  I am still limiting dairy for the most part.
Likes-  You love to stand!  You pull up on everything, and bang your hands down to let us know how excited you are!  If Lyle is in the backyard, you will stand at the glass door talking and hitting the door in the most excited way.  You also love to dance.  Whenever music starts playing you will bounce up and down, and do this little shake back and forth with your head.  You love to be tickled and you also think that mama blowing her nose is the funniest thing!

Milestones-  You crawl like a normal baby now and can stand up and walk along furniture.  You will get into a tripod position in the middle of the floor thinking you can stand up, but haven't gotten there yet.  Your top middle teeth are in (with a pretty cute gap in between them), and the ones on either side have come through.  I can feel a corner of another tooth on the bottom that has broken the skin.  We are trying to teach you the sign language signs for "more" and "all done."  Most of the time if you want more food you just shriek and bang your hands on your tray, but occasionally with prompting you will do the sign for more.

Fun Firsts- We took a trip to the Sedgwick County Zoo this month, and also a trip up to Kansas City to visit your new cousin!

Another not fun first included coming down with pneumonia and spending a night in the hospital.  Booooo...

Lyle Update:  Lyle can still make you laugh better than anyone!  Once he starts laughing about something, you giggle like crazy too!  You love to get your hands on everything, including all of his toys.  I'm sure it will forever be a process, but usually he is more concerned about you being safe or putting things in your mouth, than he is mad about you having his toy.

Happy 9 month birthday!  Life is so great because of you!

Labor Day Weekend

What a hot labor day weekend!  I sure hope that fall weather is on the way!  We enjoyed a fun afternoon at my parents house.  Lyle learned the art of making homemade ice cream, the kids ran in the sprinklers, and we enjoyed a great end of summer barbeque!

We moved our sandbox back by the swingset, so we spent some time out there playing.  Aria ate a decent amount of sand...and weeds from under the fence.

Lyle was building a brick wall.  He said that you lay the bricks out beside each other, then you put frosting on top.  I guess mortar does look like frosting when they are putting it on!

We had a picnic on the porch for breakfast on Monday.

Aria thinks Lyle is hilarious.

Wearing his Holden Beach shirt from Gigi and Grandaddy (the place he was named after).

We were able to fit in a little cleaning, rearranging of toys, quilting (me not we), and several episodes of Pysch in between our fun.  A great weekend, plus a short work week is always a plus!

On a random note, we finally have a pineapple growing!
