"So I commend the enjoyment of life, because nothing is better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany him in his work all the days of the life God has given him under the sun." Ecclesiastes 8:15

Convention

What a week!  We got home from the Mennonite Youth Convention last Saturday night, exhausted, but grateful for an awesome week.  I'm not sure what we were thinking when we made our travel plans (well I do know...we were going for the cheapest option) but it involved too many early flights, long layovers, and not enough sleep the night before.  BUT...we didn't have to drive the big red van accross country, and it didn't break down between here and Kansas City, so we are VERY grateful! :)  We had so much fun with our group and made some great memories.

The speakers we had were great, especially towards the end of the week.  Each afternoon there were three sessions of seminars with several topics to choose from.  These were interesting to me to hear a little more about things/beliefs that are unique to the Mennonite church.  I didn't grow up in a Mennonite church, nor did I take the traditional Bib Lit at Hesston College, so I don't know the history behind a lot of the beliefs.  It was awesome to sit with the high schoolers after a session to hear what they learned, or had never thought of before.  I am excited to start this next year with them, and get to know everyone better.  They are an awesome group!

We played a lot of round-table ping-pong, Dutch Blitz, searched for our matching number on the Hesston College pole, ran up the down escalators, and watched the boys "planking."  I ran into a lot of old friends, including my roommate from Hesston, Addie.  What an awesome surprise, it was so much fun to catch up!  The convention center was on the river, and had floor to ceiling windows to look out over the river.  We spent a lot of time hanging out on the balconies and got to see an awesome fireworks show from the roof.

All in all a great week!  Of course there were times where we were tired or frustrated, but what a great time of growing and renewing!
